When is a pickup enough for a move?
Pickups suit studio moves, dorm rooms, or 1-bedroom apartments — usually 5–15 boxes plus a small table, shelf, and folding bed. For 2+ bedroom homes, consider a light truck or large double-cabin pickup. Advantage: easier parking in narrow alleys and lower cost than large trucks.
Bed capacity & load estimates
Single-cabin pickups (Hilux, Triton) have ~1.5 m³ beds; double cabins are slightly smaller for cargo. Protect loads with tarps and tie-downs. Distribute weight evenly and don't exceed tonnage limits — violations are the renter's responsibility.
Driver, loading, and routes
For intercity moves, renting with a driver is safer and saves time. Ask if the driver helps lift (usually not included — bring your own crew). Plan routes to avoid rush hour; for toll roads, prepare e-toll or cash.
